How To Make Money on eBay

Starting an eBay business has never been easier!

The following e-Books provide step by step instructions that will enable you to work from home and enjoy financial freedom!

The books cover a wide range of topics and give realistic information about how to make money on eBay including vital selling strategies that all eBay sellers need to know and useful tips to get you started.

Entrepreneurs throughout the world are starting new businesses using eBay. Thanks to this online auction site it is now possible for people to run fast growing and profitable companies without even needing to leave their own home.

It is therefore not surprising that several “Get Rich Quick” websites and books have sprung up claiming to provide ways of making thousands of pounds per week. The truth, however, is that an eBay business, as with any business, requires a lot of effort and careful planning to succeed.

Top Tips:

1.  Research – Is there a market for the product that you intend to sell? The key to all successful businesses is gaining adequate and reliable information about about what sells and where to sell it.

2.  Presentation – the way in which your product is presented can make a world of difference in terms of the price that it sells for and whether it sells at all.

3.  Growing your eBay business – test the water and grow the business over time, gradually building up a large amount of positive feedback.

4.  Provide Quality – People are unlikely to buy from people who have a significant amount of negative feedback.

5.  Maintain communication – respond to buyers’ questions and complaints swiftly and in a professional manner.

6.  Packaging – ensure that all products that you send are well packaged as it protects against damages and is more likely to make customers leave positive feedback.

7.  Payment methods – Paypal is the preferred method because of its ease of use and safety. Other methods, however, can be offered in order to attract a wider audience.

EBay was originally started in 1995 by Pierre Omidyar. The name of the company was to be Echo Bay Technology but the domain name of echobay.com was already registered and so the name was shortened to eBay.com.

The range of items sold on eBay over the years ranges from the sublime to the ridiculous, including human kidneys, joined up jelly babies and even a gentleman who attempted to sell his ‘soul’.

The preferred method of payment on eBay is PayPal and Paypal Inc was acquired by eBay in 2002.

EBay has enjoyed continued growth from their many companies and ventures, and had earned $3.3 Billion by 2004. It is currently used by over 135 million people throughout the world and the company hopes to expand the operations further, possibly by incorporating video and audio into its auctions.

Approximately half a million people currently make a living selling goods on eBay and which adds up to an estimated $30 Billion worth of merchandise sold each year. In order to make some of that money for yourself all you need to do is open an eBay account and follow the advice given in these eBooks.

Note about Feedback
eBay’s feedback system was introduced to reduce the number of fraudulent sales, purchases and general “rip offs” occurring on the site. Whilst this has provided both buyers and sellers with an assurance of who they are dealing with it has unfortunately lead to a misuse of the system whereby users are deliberately nailing their competition with negative feedback. Fraudsters are also purchasing goods using stolen cheque books or writing cheques with insufficient funds. It would therefore be prudent of sellers who are accepting cheque payments to wait until the cheque has cleared before posting items.

Keeping Customers Happy
1. Run a fast efficient service, delivering goods promptly and exceeding customer expectations. Also, have a system to deal with non or late payers.
2. Allow 8-10 days for receiving payments. If no payment is received after that time send an email to remind the cusomer and state that you will leave negative feedback if they do not make contact. After a further week without payment or contact the feedback system can be used to leave a non-payment comment if needed.
3. Always check a buyer's feedback score. A high negative % indicates that other sellers have previously had problems with this particular seller, but there can even be a high number of negative scores alongside positive scores.

Presentation
A golden rule of marketing is that IMAGES SELL PRODUCTS and pictures should therefore be used wherever possible. Sellers should always use good photographs that are in focus and capture the item in its best possible light. Good photographs give buyers confidence in what they are bidding for and are likely to lead to higher sales.

Packaging
This is a very important but often overlooked area of eBay selling. Whilst sellers do not want to spend too much on packaging as it eats into their profits, they should also not skimp on packaging as it can make them look cheap. Appropriate packaging should always be used including bubble wraps where necessary and an appropriate P&P amount should be charged.
